"As I walk through the doors, I feel my phone vibrating in my back pocket. I shift my bags into one hand and reach into my back pocket for the phone. I slide the "Answer" button upward.

My phone and the contents of my shopping bags scatter across the sidewalk. I instantly fall face first to the sidewalk with a massive throbbing pain in the back of my head where I've been struck. I roll over to see my younger cousin, Danisha, standing over me with brass knuckles attached to her hand.
